[So, Katara up and vanishing was...unexpected, to say the least. Not to mention a bit of a downer. Sure he teased her a lot, but Duncan kind of liked having her around. She was definitely the only person to actually care enough to check on him and his pokémon from time to time, and he could respect that. And if he had such a high opinion of her, he could only imagine how people who actually knew her felt.]

You probably already figured it out, but I guess Katara's gone home. I don't know if it was on purpose or not, but she's still gone.

You two alright? I mean, it's not like I knew her all that well, but you guys seemed pretty close. Figure she'd want me to check in on you, see how you were handling it...

[While he'd usually have Scruffy on his shoulder, today Tweety the Natu was the one keeping him company, perched motionless on his left shoulder. From the look of it, he was relaxing under a tree somewhere just outside Goldenrod, but the specifics were a little hard to nail down.]

Hey, like I said, you were the ones who knew her. I just talked to her a few times.

[DODGING THAT QUESTION LIKE A BOSS. Or not, because it's a pretty silly thing to not give an answer for.]

Still tryin' to figure out what to do with her Pokémon, though. I mean, I already got my own Haunter, and I don't want Scruffy gettin' jealous over me bringin' out another spider.

[The "but it wouldn't be right to ditch them" is definitely implied.]

[ She cocks an eyebrow. ] But you still knew her, so you're pretty much friends, right? I mean, Katara can be a liiiittle snappy, but she's still super nice.

[ Maybe Ty Lee is too nice, but she doesn't even think Duncan would turn Katara's pokémon out into wild. ]

Maybe your pokémon just need to spend a little more time with hers so they can be friends, too. Then there'll be nothing to be jealous over...

[But the snappiness was the second best part! Well, as far as Duncan was concerned, anyway. Weird tastes, this one.]

That doesn't mean we were friends. But I could at least count on her to not flake out on me. Fang liked her though, so I guess she was alright.

[Well, unexpected departure notwithstanding. Though from what he'd heard, those weren't really something anyone had any control over, so he was willing to cut her slack there.]

And I don't think it'd be that easy. Scruffy's pretty small, and Gressil's like four times his size. Not to mention a whole lot stronger. I don't want him feelin' like I'm replacing him.

Soooo? [ She lays down and kicks her feet up. ] They can be like...big brother and little brother! I mean, it could be really hard at first, but it'll be okay! Because as long as they know you like all of them, they won't have to be jealous or angry or anything.

Besides, since you and Fang were friends with her, her pokémon should get along with yours too. Like friends of friends!

I dunno how well that'd work out. None of mine ever met 'em, and I didn't even know she had a Haunter. Heck, I never met either of 'em, they just wound up in my PC. I don't even know if they'd listen to me.

And I don't know about you, but I'm not exactly in a hurry to have a giant spider runnin' around the house that don't do what it's told. Especially one stronger than anything on my team.

[ Ty Lee didn't know most of Katara's pokémon, either. Haunter is kinda mean-looking, too. She looks to the side and bites her lip as she thinks this over. ]

Um, maaaybe we can let them stay outside until they get a little more friendly... And if they start really getting out of hand, they can just go on a vacation in the PC again.
